I spent the night at the new house last night (the first one in our family to actually spend the night here). I actually drove over at around 9pm with the idea that I would lay down some portland cement in the kitchen before I went to bed. I was so tired that this didn’t materialize…I fell asleep and woke up at 3:30am…
3:30am…start of the day. I started off by getting the adhesive off the kitchen floor (chipped the blade on the floor scraper I got yesterday) then putting down a layer of portland cement. While that dried I tended to the musty carpet underlayment in the basement. The floor scraper works good…but it still requires some effort and my arms were about to fall off when I thought I would give my oscillating tool a try. What a great idea! It cut through the underlayment like mad. Still requires some work though…but better than all that scraping.
I need an extension cord to reach all the areas of the underlayment so I guess I’ll drive back to Cary and get it. Around noon I took the boxes out of my car (and unpacked some of the boxes so I could take them back to my wife to fill some more) and drove back to Cary via Franklin Street (see photo to the left). I stopped off at Bruegger’s for a bagel and coffee off Franklin Street along the way.
I got home around 1pm and “crashed”. My arms are some sore from all that scraping. Oh well, I consider getting that carpet out more important than the tiles in the kitchen. We need a saafe new house for Katie to grow up in…
When I got up my wife and Katie were out for a stroll. I drove around the neighborhood looking for them but they were nowhere in sight. I then drove out to our new house to finish working on it. I’m not sure if this is the first day I haven’t seen Katie for the entire day or not? I think that there was a time in the past when I worked late and she was asleep when I went to work and asleep when I got home.
WHAT I LEARNED TODAY
