Day #885 (Wed., June 6, 2012) – Glowing Butterfly Toy
As I was leaving work this evening I gave my wife a call on the phone. Katie was on the line as well. I asked Katie if she wanted a “Special Present” and she got very excited. I had to bring her one…luckily I still have a bunch left over at the house from my last trip to the Dollar Store.
When I got home I gave Katie her “Special Present”…a butterfly wand (see photo to the right) that has some sort of chemicals inside it. When you snap the wand it will release the two chemicals and the reaction will begin. The resulting reaction produces a substance that glows in the dark. It was not quite night so we went into the hallway and closed the doors and tried it out there.
Katie eventually took the wand into the bathtub with her. I turned out the lights so that she could see it glowing. When I turned the lights back on she said “That’s much better”. It’s amazing how she talks in complete sentences these days.
7:30pm – I’ve started to record some of the children’s programs from UNC-TV again. They were being recorded on our TiVo in our old place in Cary. Right now Katie is watching “Clifford The Big Red Dog”.
