Day #902 (Sat., June 23, 2012) – Beatles Documentary

I was having problems sleeping this morning so I figured I had better be productive and went to the gym while my wife and Katie were sleeping. On the drive back home I got to thinking about the Beatles and Paul McCartney (there was a special about them on television last night. Paul’s family was very musical and I was thinking it would be good to surround Katie with music. I got to thinking…why am I not playing guitar for her each evening so she can sing her little songs. I guess the lack of sleep got me thinking and the real reason is that I don’t want her to break my guitar. They are rather expensive and she has a tendency to want to “touch and feel” things and I don’t want her to dent or break it. So…

When my wife got up and got to talking and we decided that I would go ahead and get an inexpensive guitar from Amazon.com. I could keep it out and if Katie banged or dented or broke it who cares. It would be worth it to have her surrounded with the sounds of music. I also picked up a guitar book of children songs so I could play guitar and Katie could sing. My wife wanted a “Sound of Music” sound book as well so she can play our little Casio keyboard while I play guitar and Katie sings (she sings almost constantly these days). Katie’s attention span is not the longest these days but will develop more and more as she grows older.

My wife and I bundled up Katie and went to the Kidzo Children’s Museum (first time we have been there) and then to Umstead park afterwards. Katie didn’t want to go home. Where in world does she get all this energy!

2012-06-23 – Play Doh Pie

This evening Katie and I were playing with Play Doh. We ended up making a berry pie with little blueberries, strawberries and blackberries (see photo to the right).

Katie has figured out how to prolong the time before we put her to bed. As soon as my wife tries to put her to bed she says “I want to see daddy”. Once that has worn out she will say “I’m almost hungry…I need some ice cream”.
