Day #944 (Sat., Aug. 4, 2012) – The LadyBug Toy

2012-08-04 – Slab Cut

The photo the the right shows a fix we have recently made to the concrete slab at our back door. Rain water was accumulating and pouring into the basement so we hope that this cut in the slab will resolve the problem.

We had a letter for the former owners of our Chapel Hill house arrive in the mail so this evening we packed up Katie and decided that we would drop it off on our way to the park and getting some frozen yogurt.

We arrived at their house expecting them to be out, but they were home. When they saw us they welcomed us in to see their house. The man brought out a little wooden toy that they got when they were in Holland years ago. It was a little wooden ladybug that would waddle down a wooden platform via gravity. Katie was fascinated by it. For some reason it stopped working at one point and we could not figure out why. Powered by gravity it would work when the head came off but not with the head on…go figure. Anyway, I’m glad that I was with Katie throughout and knew it was not because he dropped it or harmed it in anyway. Let’s just say the ladybug got tired… 🙂

After our visit we gave Katie the choice to go to either the park or to get some frozen yogurt. She thought about it and then said “park”. Once we got to the park she said she didn’t want to stay…we think because she saw that there were no kids there. So, we were soon off to Yogurt Pump in Chapel Hill to get some “frozen sugar”. Her belly soon full we were off to the park again…this time the community park that has the nearby rose garden.

Katie played for a bit with the children. It is funny to see her play hide and seek. She doesn’t understand the concept of the game…she just runs. When it got dark we headed for home.
