Day #1042 (Sat., Nov. 10, 2012) – Off To The Zoo
We haven’t been to the zoo in while so we decided that we would pack up Katie and take a trip. The zoo opens at 9am, but Katie was up by 6am, so soon we were off.
A bit of a distraction on the way as we had a flat tire just outside of Carrboro. I called AAA but the tow truck guy was clearing the parking lots for the UNC football game so he came over an hour later (at least he got his priorities right)… Katie behaved herself quite well actually. Equipped with a new tire we were soon on our way.
We stopped off at Subway for a quick sandwich before heading to the zoo. We rented a stroller and took the tram to the African Exhibit. Katie got to see giraffes, lions, gorillas, zebras, elephants (see photo to the right), and chimps. Just before we left she had a ride on the carousel.
Katie slept on the drive home so she was ready to go by the time we got home. Too bad mommy and daddy didn’t have the same opportunity for a nap. We had fish & chips for supper tonight and decided that we would “split shift” til Katie got tired. I had a nap first, then my wife went to bed while I took care of Katie.
This evening Katie made some “pretend” oatmeal for her little white plush doggie. She seems to be doing a lot more imaginative play these days. Katie went to bed around 9:30pm and I was soon counting sheep as well.
