No school for Katie today. The teachers are having Thanksgiving a bit early…
No need to wait til the day after Thanksgiving. The Christmas Tree is fully “bulbed” (see photo to the right).
Tomorrow is Thanksgiving Day and my wife is making a dish that requires champagne. Don’t worry…all the alcohol will burn off in the oven leaving just the taste. She also needs spices so we packed up Katie this evening and drove down to Harris Teeter off MLK.
Katie didn’t want to sit in the shopping cart so this provided us with an additional challenge. I initially took over wheeling the cart while my wife took care of Katie. Eventually Katie found her way to the toy display case, and this is where the fun began….
She started to pick up each of the toys. First it was marbles, then a jump rope, and then… She expressed some interest in Chinese Checkers. Since this involves putting different colored marbles in different areas of a board I thought it might be nice to get it for her…so I took it over to my wife and she agreed.
By that time Katie had expressed an interest in another item…a bag of balloons. We figured that we had enough balloons at home but Katie didn’t agree. She carried that bag of balloons all over the store and said that she wanted them. $2.49…we ended up getting them.
Once we got home Katie was a bit frustrated with the Chinese Checkers. There were white balls and black balls but no white or black section to put them in? I tried to put them in the pink and brown section but she would have nothing of it. You know how organized she is. We decided to take the game away til she was a bit older lest the little marbles go missing and it rendered useless in terms of a game. We played with the balloons for the rest of the evening.
WHAT I LEARNED TODAY
——————————
1) Katie went from marbles to a jumping rope to Chinese checkers to a bag of balloons.
