Day #1267 (Sun., Jun 23, 2013) – Art Linkletter Encyclopedia

Emily, Katie’s former babysitter, came to see Katie at 9:30am this morning. Katie was still asleep and when she got up in 15 minutes or so she was very grumpy. For about an hour all she wanted was to watch TV…she didn’t want to play with Emily at all. When she finally woke up she had fun playing with Emily.

Emily and her made soup of the leaves, found a few centipedes, took a walk in the neighborhood, even met our Chinese neighbor, who gave Katie a little Japanese ornament.

When I Skyped my wife from Canada this morning Emily, Katie’s former babysitter, was there. I also got a good chance to look at Katie’s rash. It is getting worse…but the doctor said that this would probably be the case.

I found the old set of Art Linkletter Encyclopedias that I enjoyed so much as a child. I emailed some pictures to my wife and Skyped to see what she thought. We decided that they would be a great gift for Katie. It’s hard to get a good children’s encyclopedia like this anymore…and the cost of shipping will more than be compensated for by the fun and learning potential.

After Katie’s nap she wanted to go look for centipedes, so my wife and her went out. Zach heard Katie and greeted her with a bark, so they went over to see Lucy. She was about to go to the dog park, so we decided to tag along. There weren’t many dogs in the park, but Katie still had fun. She also loved climbing the rocks. Maybe we should find a rock climbing class for her…I guess she was really good.

2013-06-23 - Days Til Daddy ReturnsWhen they got home they made a calendar to count the days until daddy comes back (see photo to the left). They also baked some fresh rye bread and cooked some shrimp for dinner. Katie loves her shrimp!

My wife was reading a book to Katie while putting Katie to bed this evening. Suddenly Katie got up and put an ant next to her. She screamed. Katie tried to soothe her by saying: “don’t worry mommy, the ant is killed. I just wanted to show you that it’s killed”. As it turns out she was right – it was dead…
