Day #1268 (Mon., Jun 24, 2013) – Grandma’s Funeral
I went to the funeral home this morning for a private viewing of my mother. At 10:45 we left for the grave side service. Leslie gave the sermon and I read Psalm 23. We met at Debbie’s place for a reception afterwards. It went very smoothly and I’m sure that Katie’s grandma would be pleased. It was a real pleasure to hear people say how Katie was the main topic of conversation as far as grandma was conerned. After seeing her photos everyone said she was adorable.
Meanwhile…back in North Carolina…

My wife tells me that it’s getting pretty hot and muggy here, so Alexa took Katie to the science museum. Katie seemed too excited to nap, so it took her forever to fall asleep. The last thing I heard her screaming was: “mommy, can we go water the flowers?” Eventually she was out by 3 pm and slept almost until 7 pm… As soon as she was up she wanted to water the flowers. So we went to the patio. Katie played with water, I worked a bit.
Some random sayings from Katie this evening:
a) “I want daddy to go potty with me. Mommy, you can leave now – daddy will protect me.”
b) “I am so exhausted, I don’t know what else to eat.”
Last night Katie was using her Duplo garbage truck to carry all the animals into the pretend garbage bin. Today she wanted my wife to be the horse and she fed all animals from the same pretend garbage bin to her. She had a choice though: horsey, would you like to eat a hippo or a cat?
