Day #1327 (Thu., Aug. 22, 2013) – Daddy’s Night Out
There was a firetruck at the park today so Katie got a chance to see it “up close” (see photo to the right).
A couple of guys from work and I went out this evening…once of those rare evenings when I don’t go right home and play with Katie. I was initially thinking it would be for only an hour, but around 8:30pm I headed for home.
When I got home Katie met me at the door and asked if I had a present…her usual greeting. I had to explain to her that we gave her two presents last night (i.e.: harmonica and polar animals). She seemed satisfied with that response.
Soon Katie was bringing the orange ball to me and asking to play catch. We ended up in the hallway with all the doors closed kicking the ball around. I showed Katie how you can move beside the ball and kick it backwards. Her technique needs a bit of work, but she’s getting there.
Next stop was out to the living room where we played “swinging from the vine”. I would attach a little plastic ape to the end of her yo-yo and swing it back and forth. When the ape fell down I would rush him away in an ambulance to the hospital where I would feed him chocolate. Once fed, he was well again and able to swing another day. Katie said that she really liked this game.
