Katie still has a nasty cough. And the whining…oh the whining…will it ever stop. We realize that she is sick but even that doesn’t take much of an edge off the constant whining…
I wanted to make some healthy snacks this evening so I found a recipe for buckwheat-chocolate cookies. As soon as I asked Katie if she wanted to help she started dragging the chair into the kitchen from the dining room. I had her mix the dry ingredients, then the wet. She said that she was going to be my “assistant”…where does she learn these words from? The cookies turned out pretty good (see photo to the right)…I will be making them again, but perhaps with the full measure of called for sugar next time.
My wife was not feeling well so I tended to Katie this evening. For some reason she could not get enough of “scary things”. Eventually, after much pleading, I put “Scooby-Doo” back on television. She ate it up…show after show. Eventually it was getting late and in order to try to coax her to go to bed I shut the lights off. So here we have it, our little girl, in the darkness except for the glow of the television screen, enjoying herself to the max watching this cartoon that features ghosts and other sorts of monsters. Go figure!
1:15am…I had enough. Katie tried to hide from me under the dining room table but I managed to grab her and cart her off to bed. She cried and cried but I tried to tell her of all the fun that we had today and the various things we did. That seemed to calm her down… I turned off the lights and eventually she went to sleep.
WHAT I LEARNED TODAY
