Day #1371 (Sat., Oct. 5, 2013) – Emily Visits The Zoo
We took Emily, our former babysitter, to the North Carolina Zoo this morning. This was the first time she had been there. She enjoyed sitting in the back seat with Katie on the ride down.
First stop, Subway, where we each had a footlong sub. The plan was that Katie would share a sub with my wife…but she wasn’t really hungry.
We saw the regular assortment of animals…giraffe’s & zebras and such. Two special treats today…we saw lions eating and the chimps were particularly playful. We even got a closeup shot of an ostrich (see photo to the right) On a sad note the Polar Bear died a few weeks ago so the polar bear exhibit was shut down again. The highlights for Katie? As usual, climbing on the various animals and riding on the carousel.
Katie insisted we go into one of the shops as we were leaving. She really wanted a $30 stuffed giraffe but we managed to talk her out of it. My wife and I took turns carrying her back to the car.
This evening we ordered pizza. Katie loves pizza.
