Day #1509 (Thu., Feb. 20, 2014) – Daddy/Daughter Day #10

2014-02-20 - Lego TableThe photo to the right shows another view of the Lego Table. It’s great to have all those little pieces off the floor now. They are so small it is easy to lose them.

I called up my wife on the way home from work this evening to see if she wanted to go out. When she asked Katie she got “YoPop” as the answer. In the end I picked up some Bojangles Chicken on the way home from work and we were going to decide later in the evening about YoPop. Well, I guess by the time I got home Katie was all worked up about YoPop, so after dinner off to YoPop we went. My wife stayed home to do laundry. Albeit brief, Daddy/Daughter Day #10 had begun…

On the way to YoPop Katie and I got into a discussion about why cats and humans sleep at different times. I told her that cats were “Nocturnal”…meaning they sleep during the day and prowl around at night. Katie then replied that she doesn’t always sleep at night (oh don’t my wife and I know that…). I replied that cats sometimes sleep during the day as well…something they call a “cat nap”.

Katie wanted strawberry frozen yogurt this evening. That’s good, she didn’t want any chocolate. She found a little girl there to run and play with. They ended up playing hide/seek under the tables and I ended up trying to “find them”.

When we got home I was beat so I went to bed. Around 11:30pm my wife woke me up to take over. Katie and I watched a bit of Batman on television and then played with Legos for a bit. I coaxed her to go to bed via the promise to tell her the story about “Batman and the Golden Pickle”. It’s basically a story about a regular pickle who wanted to develop his self-esteem and he did this through obeying his teachers and not “running in the hallways”. When Batman came to town he was looking to team up with a local super hero and chose the “Golden Pickle” to help him fight crimes. Lights out around 12:15am…

I spoke too soon. Katie was hungry so I got her a bowl of carrots and warm milk while she watched Caillou. Soon came the nuts and raisins and a bowl of cheerios with milk. I just left her with Super Teddy (her teddy bear with the Superman cape on) to watch over her in case the Riddler comes in the night. 1:06am…
