Day #1586 (Thu., May 8, 2014) – An Evening Of Music
When I got home from work this evening my wife told me the news that Katie left the house without permission. Her goal was to go to the creek but she did come back when mommy called her. She needs to be punished as she knows better. We’ll decide upon her punishment when we get back from our evening of festivities…
Tonight is “Music Night” at Katie’s school (see photo to the right). It’s an annual event in which the students and their parents join in on various musical escapades such as singing, dancing, and playing musical instruments. Katie was a bit subdued and strange this evening…I think she was worrying about the punishment she was going to receive when she got home.
We toyed with various punishments like taking her books away, or no television, or sending her to her room, but in the end we figured she had cried enough this evening and had a frank discussion with her about the importance of always asking for permission before leaving the house. I had her look me straight in the eye and tell me that she would not do it again. If she did, I told her, punishment would be ensured. Let’s see if this takes…
