This evening Katie’s preschool was having a spaghetti dinner fundraiser. My wife usually goes to these things but with her being pregnant I went instead. In the end I was there from 4:15pm – 6:20pm … more than the 2 hours needed to fulfill our promise of 3 hours of volunteering for the school year. If you are unable to help out you need to pay $50 per hour…so quite the savings.
I started off by cutting French bread into small slices and putting them into a big bowl (see photo to the right). When that was done I offered to go and get some lemonade at Harris-Teeter as the kids really love it and they were out. In the end they found a container in the storage room so I mixed that up into a huge 5 gallon dispenser. I helped Mary put some chairs up in the overflow room for people who don’t want to eat in a large crowd. By this time the dinner had started and I made sure that there were enough plates and spoons and such. At one point I took a towel and wiped down the buffet table…it looked like a bunch of Wildebeests were feeding.
I did get a chance to talk to Mary as we were putting up the chairs. I inquired about Katie not wanting to play with anyone at school. She said that she was probably just an introvert and needed her alone time.
Vanessa and Eleri were there, but no Jack. Vanessa told me that Eleri was really missing Katie as my wife and Katie usually attend these dinners.
I chatted with Matt and told him that my wife was going to be having a boy. He told me that their second boy Ben was much more energetic than their first boy Luke and it was hard to keep up with him. He also mentioned that he got a Jeep electric car for their son and it was one of the best. He offered to sell it to me or at least give me advice on this type of vehicle when the time comes.
