Day #1775 (Thu., Nov. 13, 2014) – Harry Potter’s World

2014-11-13 - ColoringThe photo to the right shows Katie at her favorite activity…arts & crafts.

As I’m in Orlando I asked my wife to send me a few notes on what Katie was doing today. Here’s what she sent me:

The first thing Katie told my wife in the morning was: “Mommy, can I skip a dance class today?”

On the way to school they found out what caused the power outage last night. Just in front of Tom and Teddy’s house (where we went to the yard sale a few weeks ago) there was a huge dead tree that fell from across the road damaging the power lines. By now the tree is chopped to pieces (you can see a pile on the right as you come up our street). Tom was there dealing with the disaster and trying to fix his fence. Katie proceeded telling him all about power outages. The first one when she had her cereal (that’s true, it was so dark that I fed her cereal in her room) and about the second one when I read her a story in front of the laptop screen (I haven’t found the flash light at that point yet).

Katie took her baby doll to school for show and share. She was happy to show her to Miss Laura and tell even more about her. As my wife was about to leave, Katie got clingy. Teagan was playing with Tatum at that point. Eleri was ignoring Katie and even though Katie wanted to play with Mackenzie, she was not interested in the mosaic Mackenzie was playing with. Luckily Miss Laura came up and asked Katie to show her doll. That did a trick!

After school they got home, had a quick lunch and dressed up in warmer dance attire – tights and a long-sleeve leotard. It was the first time for Katie to try them on. On the way to a dance class my wife asked Katie to behave well and she promised to do just that. And she did! She listened to the teacher and had lots of fun. It might have helped that today the class was concentrating on animal movements – snake, cat, etc. So Katie was in her element… My wife asked Katie why she is so unwilling to go to the class, but then has so much fun in it. She said that ‘I didn’t know I will have fun’. My wife promised to remind her every week how fun the dance class is.

After the class they went to Tuesday Morning to look for Thanksgiving decorations, but found only a table cloth and a set of magnetic fairy clothes for Katie to play with. On the way home they stopped by the library to get some Thanksgiving books.

In the evening Katie was very good, entertained herself, and didn’t cause me any trouble.

Daddy on the otherhand, still at the conference in Orlando, managed to pick up the Ariel gift at the gift shop in the hotel lobby. Katie had been asking for a tube of animals and this is basically that, except Ariel and her friends figurines in a box instead of a tube. Ariel, Sebastian, Flounder, etc…the’re all there.

This evening, after the conference was over, we all went to Harry Potter’s World. I suppose we will be taking Katie and little Bobby to one of these attractions at some point.

WHAT I LEARNED TODAY

1) Katie didn’t want to go to dance class today.
