Katie is five years old today. As soon as she got up we gave her birthday gifts from my wife and I. We got her a science kit since the one she got on Christmas was such a hit. I also showed her the series of videos I have been creating (one per month) on valuable life lessons.
Next on the agenda was to go to Harris-Teeter to pick up Katie’s birthday cake (see photo to the right). I also picked up some nail polish remover for her nails and a red pen (to be used in the science kit).
We drove out to Maple View Farms at 1:30pm to get ready for the festivities that will begin at 2pm. Eleven kids and at least one parent showed up.
Katie got to play in the bouncy house with her friends and then they had a class on cows and how milk is produced. Next up was a hay ride through the farm where all the children got to feed a calf. Nicky is back in town and came just as the hay ride was finishing up.
After cutting the cake and singing “Happy Birthday” to Katie everyone enjoyed some ice cream and cake.
Katie got lots of presents and enjoyed playing with them this evening. One memorable toy was a flying Tinkerbell that hovered around the living room like a helicopter. It was hard to put her to bed as a result.
