Day #1984 (Wed., June 10, 2015) – Electronic Cat Door

I heard noises at the cat door in the middle of the night. I think the raccoons are back. My wife ordered a cat door that operates via the chip on the cats which will hopefully remedy this problem. When my wife got up in the morning she could see where the raccoon tried to drag a bag of the cat’s salmon food out the cat door.

Hannah could not make it today so my wife had to take care of the two kids all by herself. I had a doctor’s appointment so I went to work late and helped her out a bit in the morning. My wife thinks that Katie might be old enough to fend for herself now so we might only need to get a nanny for little Bobby. Katie is, after all, going to school full-time starting in September.

Another stroll tonight. Katie didn’t get to see any of her friends. On the way home Katie tripped and fell on the pavement and cut her knee. A lot of crying and then home for some ointment and cartoons.

2015-06-10 - New DeskMy wife is assembling a new desk for the bedroom. You can see a photo of one of the partially assembled units in the photo to the right.

The new cat door came this evening. This one reacts to the microchip inside the cat’s body so you have to set it. When a cat who has been “approved” approaches the door will swing open. Hopefully the raccoons will not bite through the door.

As I was changing little Bobby this evening I sang the “Root Root Root” part of “Take Me Out To The Ballgame” in a deep voice and he howled with delight. Again and again. We have never heard him laugh so much and for so long.
