As I drove Katie out to gymnastics camp this morning she asked me if she had to do the “twirling thing” if she didn’t want to. I think she is meaning where you get on the balance beam and do a 360 degree turn, but I’m not sure. I reiterated what I told her all this week. The rules are:
- Have Fun!
- It’s a good idea to try new things when the opportunity presents itself. The people are there to help you learn and will make sure nothing happens to you. If you feel up to it you can tell them that you are scared and they will help you learn new things in a safe environment.
I had a doctor’s appointment this afternoon so I drove home to pick up my wife and little Bobby so they could come as well. It was way up in northern Durham so it was quite the hike…little Bobby slept all the way. On the drive home we stopped by a tire store in Carborro where they have $30 tires but by the time we got there we had to turn around and go home as it was past 5pm and Sam needed to go home.
This afternoon Katie had her first private swimming lesson with Miss Barbara. Sam took her and he took some pictures as well. She did very well. She used her floats for a bit and Miss Barbara had her hold her hands on the side of the pool and kick. She then taught her how to breathe through her nose and mouth.
We put little Bobby into the Jumperoo tonight and he really took to it. He was jumping up and down…I think he’s finally got the hang of it. He also played with the little moth attached to the Jumperoo (see photo to the left).
Little Bobby was a real “delight” as the evening drew on… My wife went to bed because she had a tension headache and I tried my best to calm him down and get him to go to bed. Nothing seemed to work. He cried and cried til I eventually woke my wife up. At least she got to sleep for an hour. She held little Bobby and he fell asleep. He just wanted his mommy.
