Day #2558 (Wed., Jan. 4, 2017) – Happy 7th Katie!

2017-01-04 - Chess Checker SetKatie is seven years old today. Before she left for school my wife and I gave her a couple of birthday presents. A chess/checkers game and a book of Aesops Fables (see photo to the right).

On the drive to Glenwood this morning Katie told me a bit about how the day goes for a birthday girl. First off, the principal comes on the loud speaker and announces the birthdays for the day. She will get to pick someone to join her in the walk to the principal’s office to get her gift. I learned later in the day that instead of choosing Helen or Dylan Katie chose Herron. The gift was a pencil with some stickers.

Apparently, they don’t play the national anthem at school but do say the pledge of allegiance.

Around 11am this morning my boss came to see me and noticed that I had “pink eye”. He told me to go home for the day.

I stopped by the optometrist’s office later in the day and he prescribed some eyedrops for me. After picking them up I drove over to Whole Foods to get a cupcake for Katie. It is her birthday after all. I picked up one strawberry and one “blue coconut”. Katie decided to have the blue coconut one…she can have the other one tomorrow. I made sure to not get one with chocolate in it.

Bobby is saying “boat” a lot more these days. He is scared of the Spiderman towel my wife picked out for him. Perhaps it reminds him of the smock that CiCi put on him the first time he went to her for a haircut?
