On the drive to Glenwood this morning I was telling Katie that we can either go to “Great Wolfe Lodge” or the alternative, “Not So Great Chihuahua Garbage Dump” where we get to eat out of a garbage can. She said she would prefer the former.
Katie was fussy all day today. She would not sit still at Miss Laura’s piano recital and ran up to her mother to get a hug. We found out the problem later this evening. Here’s what Katie told us:
1) During recess, Eleri made fun of Helen’s clothes, Katie stood up for Helen, told the teachers, got 10 chomps and extra recess time.
2) During the math class, Ella didn’t know the answer to a problem, asked Katie to help. When Katie told her what the answer was, Ella got really upset and thought Katie was trying to trick her. Then Ella wrote the cards to all classmates: ‘play a trick on Katie’. Max actually came to Katie and hit Katie’s face. Ellen and Kasey came to Katie, showed the cards they got and stayed with Katie to protect her. Which I think was super sweet of them… This happened while Ms. Han was on a lunch break and the new substitute teacher had the kids alone. I understand that she might have been overwhelmed, but it’s very disturbing that all this can happen during the class!
3) Ella told the teacher that Katie spat on her (Katie tells me that’s not true, and I tend to believe her). The teacher punished Katie with a recess loop. Katie is devastated that not only Ella could lie unpunished, but Katie got punished for something she didn’t do.
Bobby loves to play with the cat door (see photo to the right).
I will put the Netflix show “Trottro” on the television in the bedroom and leave Bobby to watch it. This evening he came running down the hallway asking for me. He ran into the kitchen to see me and gave me a big hug.
I put some whipped cream on top of Bobby’s fire truck this evening. He was not interested in his baby food after that.
