My back is better now that I’m not sleeping on that “marshmallow” mattress. It makes me think I should get a new mattress for home…one that is firmer. Soft mattresses seem to cause havoc with my back.
We went to see the USS North Carolina battleship near Wilmington this morning. Lots of up and down the stairs which was hard on daddy’s legs. We got to see a lot of what it would have been like to serve on this sort of a ship during World War II. For example, we saw the bathrooms that the sailors would have had to use. Not much privacy (see photo to the right). The officer’s restroom had much better facilities and privacy. Katie would later exclaim that this taught her to do better in school so that she would have a better toilet.
We picked up a bucket of KFC chicken on the way home. Bobby charmed the lady at the drive-through window and she gave the kids some free chocolate-chip cookies.
This evening we went to the beach for one last time. Bobby and Katie are both getting more confident around the ocean water, which is nice to see.
