My wife dropped the kids off at the Bosnians this morning and then stopped off at the hospital to see me. I ordered her an omelet for breakfast.
Soon Sayad showed up to put me through my physical therapy motions. He said that I had made remarkable progress since Friday. As a “going away present” I can take both the walker and commode (see photo to the left) home with me.
When the knee surgeon showed up he said that once I did a bit more walking to the nurse’s station and back, and was able to climb a step (simulating the step up into our house), I was good to go. I was joking with the doctor that this was like the old “Kung Fu” television show where the student could leave if he snatched the pebble from the teacher’s hand. Of course, he was too young to remember that show.
As there were no plans for me to leave today my wife brought the van instead of the Camry. No problem, I was able to get inside along with all the stuff I had accumulated while at the hospital.
On the way home, we stopped off at Walgreens on MLK to put in the prescription. My wife then drove me home, went back to pick up the prescription, then off to the Bosnian family’s place to pick up the kids.
Katie got me a glass of water and a towel for under my ankle this evening. I even managed to feed Bobby, something that will probably be my only household chore for the next six weeks.
