We went to see the Lego exhibit at the UNC Planetarium this morning. Unfortunately we were an hour early, so we had to find something to do. Rather than go home, or spend extra money at the Waffle House, we decided that we would explore the surroundings. Once the planetarium opened we went inside to see the astronaut display (they used to train the Apollo astronauts here). We saw the location where the Silent Sam statue used to stand and the UNC well area where a lot of students get their picture taken.
The Lego exhibit was rather elaborate. There were a lot of displays, and some animated Lego exhibits like a marble run and a train. I would say the star attraction though was the large Millennium Falcon (see photo to the left). A guy there was selling plans on how you could build one yourself.
After the Lego exhibit was Russell’s (our neighbor’s boy) birthday. We arrived late, but there was still plenty of food and the kids enjoyed playing. The theme was “Goodnight, Gorilla”, based on the book that I had never heard of.
