Day #4049 (Fri., Feb. 5, 2021) – Opening Schools

We ran out of balloon rockets this afternoon so my wife ordered another package from Amazon. The good news is that with this next package we will now have two devices to blow them up with. That will make the “blowing up and launching” process go even quicker. The down side to this is that we will run out of balloon rockets that much quicker.

Katie seems really excited about the prospect of learning the violin at middle school this fall. I told her that it was one of those instruments, unlike the guitar with “3 chords to get started”, that was hard to learn. She sounded a bit disappointed in that…

Katie had another online design class this evening. You can see one of her sketches in the photo to the left. Not bad…

It looks like they are planning on opening up schools in a month or so. Hard to believe with this raging COVID-19 pandemic we have all around us, but it is what it is… Here’s part of the email I received this afternoon:

Last night, the Board of Education voted unanimously to begin reopening CHCCS schools in a hybrid model for the fourth quarter. As parents and members of this community, we understand how challenging the past year has been and we are dedicated to a safe return to in-person instruction. In the coming days and weeks, district and school leaders will follow up with specific details about this transition. In the meantime, here is some important information regarding the return: Students in Pre-K, Kindergarten, grades 1, 2, 6, and 9, and those who access our Exceptional Children programs will begin returning on April 19. Students in grades 3-5, 7-8, and 10-12 will begin returning on April 26.
