Day #4135 (Sun., May 2, 2021) – Chess & Checkers Set

Bobby has learned how to do the “Gangnam Style” dance somehow. He has been doing this around the house as of late.

I bought this great little chess/checkers/combo playing set on Amazon the other day (see photo to the right). I’m not sure if it will be available when you are reading this post, but here’s the link. All for only $8.99! Definitely a great buy!

Anyway, this afternoon I showed the kids how to play Chinese checkers on it. We then played a few games of this “soccer type game”. Both Katie and Bobby have a great sense of hand and eye coordination, which is key to a game like this.

The main reason I got this game is so that Katie and I can play chess on it. We already have a great wooden chess set that the kids received for Christmas one year, but heaven knows where it is now…and if it still has all the pieces that came with it.

I will put this set on the table near the piano and Katie and I can take turns making a play as we come and go. It will be good for Katie and I to learn a bit more about chess together. Katie will probably beat me as she has been learning it while she has been attending Glenwood. If she beats me I will go online and learn some of the “tricks of the trade”…

Just before Bobby nodded off to bed this evening he asked my wife, “Can you get me through this existential crisis? I don’t think I should be watching this”. Where in the world did this come from?
