Day #4442 (Sat., Mar. 5, 2022) – Ice Skating Lessons

The kids had their voila/violin classes this morning.  I went along as well as we will be taking them for their first group skating class afterwards.

Bobby was fussy in class again today.  At one point he pushed his bow on the carpet to another student who was on the other side of the circle they had formed.  My wife and I talked about it afterwards and we don’t think it’s a good idea for him to play video games in the morning.  It’s kind of like having your dessert before the main meal…  Who wants to eat peas after you’ve had strawberry ice cream?

We drove to the Hillsborough skating rink right after classes and proceeded to get the kids some rental skates (see photo to the left) for their group skating lessons.  Today was Bobby’s first time on skates and he did great.  I think he would have done even better if his laces had been tighter.  The skating assistant who saw him enter the rink thought he was an experienced skater as he had no hesitation whatsoever.

In the end they separated Bobby and Katie into two groups.  Katie was with the main group and since Bobby needed a bit more guidance he got assigned to a smaller group.  He fell a few times, but got right back up.  He’s a trooper.

Katie, who I gave her first skating lesson to at the same rink before my knee surgeries, did wonderful.  Towards the end of the session she was even skating backwards.

On the way home we stopped off at Chick-Fil-A for lunch.  My wife and the kids ended up watching Mary Poppins again.

This evening I started shredding some documents from the basement and our shredder (the one we got from Jui Lan) broke.  We ordered another one from Amazon but it won’t be here till Friday.
