Day #4539 (Fri., Jun. 10, 2022) – Packing For Ocracoke

There is no school today!  Summer vacation has started!  The kids are very excited…

Today is “packing day” as we will be leaving for Ocracoke early tomorrow morning.

I called up the Durham SSN office this afternoon.  It looks like we might be able to get some extra $ for Katie and Bobby now that I am retired…  They are going to call me back in a month’s time to go through the interview and specifics.

I went to Harris-Teeter this afternoon to get some snacks for the trip.  I also got some frozen treats and donuts so that the kids can enjoy their first day of school break (see photo to the right).

This evening we realized that we needed to get some bug spray for Ocracoke.  The memories of the “nature walk” where the bugs almost drove us crazy came to mind.  As a result, I drove to Walgreens on MLK to pick up two spray bottles of “Deep Woods” off.  It also will protect us against ticks, but I’m not sure if Ocracoke even has any of those?

This evening Genevieve dropped by to see where the cats live and how they are fed.  She will be looking over our house while we are on vacation.  She brought Guenther and Russell who promptly started to play the violin and viola.
