Day #4540 (Sat., Jun. 11, 2022) – First Stop Manteo
We left for the coast shortly after 7 am. First stop, Chick-Fil-A for a coffee for daddy and some breakfast.
I was tired so my wife took over the driving soon after we were out of Raleigh.
Once we got to Manteo we decided to stop off at the Wanchese Marina for some fish & chips (see photo to the right). The restaurant we ate at was called the “Landing Grill & Seafood Steam Bar”. We sat on the picnic table and it was quite hot so the kids went to the car. Funny how they don’t have umbrellas on picnic tables likes this to cool the guests off. My wife and I loved it but the kids not so much. My wife actually went back inside and got Bobby a hot dog.
In Manteo we went to a museum where they showed what life in the original Roanoke colony was like. They had a replica boat that we were able to get onto and ask questions of the sailors who dressed up for the role. One of the sailors yelled at Bobby when he stepped outside of a rope. I think he thought he might slip overboard.
We spent the night at a motel in Manteo. Manteo is quite a nice clean little place with manicured lawns. My wife and Katie went to the “Lost Colony” play this evening while Bobby and I stayed home at the motel and chilled.
