Day #4733 (Wed., Dec. 21, 2022) – Swanson Violins

This morning my wife took the kids out to “Swanson Violins” (see photo to the right) in Hillsborough to see where we will be getting our new viola/violins from.  Miss Patricia recommended this place.  It is run by an experienced luthier.

My wife took Bobby over to Brin and Ethan’s house this afternoon to drop off Christmas presents.  While they were away, Katie wanted to come with me to return the old viola/violins to the “High Strung Violins” shop in Durham where we purchased them.  On the way back we stopped off at McDonald’s for a “Cheeseburger Combo Meal”, and we picked up one for Bobby as well.  Katie also ate an ice cream cone while she held another one for her brother.  Daddy didn’t get anything, and my wife hates McDonald’s food so she didn’t get anything either.

This drive with Katie wasn’t intended to be a Daddy/Daughter Day, but it turned out to be one.  It’s #127.  She told me that she wanted to have a secluded beach house on an island.  I told her that if she took the money she earns from busking, and puts it in Rule Breaker stocks, she will be able to afford this when she  gets older.  Charlie Munger, Warren Buffet’s associate, says that whatever you need to do, get your first $100,000 as quickly as you can and start to invest it to see the wonders of compounding work for you. We talked about that as well.

Bobby practiced his new violin this afternoon no problems.  Other kids have problems adjusting to a larger size, but Bobby didn’t.  In addition, there were no indicators on the violin where he should put his fingers.  He’s becoming an accomplished violinist.

This afternoon Bobby assembled the Minecraft Fox Lego Kit that Brin gave him for a Christmas present.
