Day #4735 (Fri., Dec. 23, 2022) – Hide & Seek Game

It’s VERY COLD this year for Christmas!  They are using the term “Bomb Cyclone” again!  Here’s what a “Bomb Cyclone” is…

Storms can form when a mass of low-pressure air meets a high-pressure mass. The air flows from high pressure to low, creating winds. What defines a bomb cyclone is how rapidly the pressure drops in the low-pressure mass — by at least 24 millibars in 24 hours. This quickly increases the pressure difference, or gradient, between the two air masses, making the winds stronger. This process of rapid intensification has a name: bombogenesis.

As the winds blow, the rotation of the earth creates a cyclonic effect. The direction is counterclockwise in the Northern Hemisphere.

For the Advent Calendar today Katie received a T-Shirt and Bobby got the “Hide & Seek” game that I picked up on eBay a while back.  Bobby is really into hide & seek these days!  Why eBay?  They stopped making it back in the 1960s and I had to pick up a second hand version.  We all assembled around the dining room table to have a game (see photo to the left).

I thought that we would have a family movie day today and watch “It’s A Wonderful Life” with Donna Reed and James Stewart.  It’s voted by many to be the best Christmas movie of all time and the 11th best movie of all time.  My wife even found a colored version on Amazon Prime.  Well, Bobby lost interest first and Katie soon afterwards.  Not enough action for Bobby, and Katie didn’t like the way young George Bailey treated the girl at the drugstore, or the fact that the music was not as “clear and wonderful” like they have in modern movies.

My wife baked some of the Pillsbury Christmas cookies that I picked up at Aldi the other day.  The kids quickly downed them with a couple of mugs of the hot chocolate with marshmallows that I made for them.

I spent a lot of time shredding documents in the living room this evening.
