Day #4741 (Thu., Dec. 29, 2022) – Breaking Laptops

My wife took Katie and Bobby to Harris Teeter this afternoon to pick out snacks for our trip to the zoo tomorrow.

This afternoon my wife had me return the doorknob that Adan bought this afternoon.  It needed to be returned for a knob that had a set of keys.  I returned it instead of Adan so that he could continue to work downstairs.  He is fixing the holes in the walls and prepping them for paint.  When I got home Bobby met me at the gate and took the new doorknob to Adan as his mother asked him to.

This evening I showed Bobby how to take hard drives out of a couple old laptops that we are going to recycle.  Why take the hard drives out?  I saw on a news report that they sell these laptops overseas and people will actually try to get your personal info off the hard drives.  Taking the contents out and smashing them is a secure way to ensure that they don’t do that.  While we were at it we had a lot of fun smashing the whole laptops in the front yard.  Katie joined Bobby and I and all you needed was a sledge hammer and a good swing.  You can see one of the laptops in the photo to the left.  I was thinking of putting this photo up on eBay as a bit of a joke with the caption “Slightly Used”.
