Day #4747 (Wed., Jan. 4, 2023) – Katie’s 13th Birthday!
Today is Katie’s 13th birthday! She is no longer a “tween”. As of today, she is a teenager! It seems like yesterday that she was born! My how time flies!
I dropped Bobby off at school this morning, and picked him up this afternoon, as is the norm. Today though, for a change, we went to Harris-Teeter to pick up an ice cream cake to celebrate Katie’s birthday! Luckily, they had her first choice, a “Cookies & Cream” version. You can see Katie blowing out the candles in the photo to the right!
In terms of presents, we gave Katie the white Converse sneakers that she had been hoping for. Funny, these were the same sneakers that if kids wore during the 1970’s they were teased about… 🙂 While we were at Harris-Teeter this afternoon I picked up a couple of “discounted” Christmas card & Jelly Bean packages for Bobby and Katie. I suggested to Bobby that he fill out the card and change the references to Christmas to birthday and give it to Katie, which he did. I also picked up a discounted “Moose” plushie for under $2 for Bobby.
At 5:30 pm this evening we had a zoom meeting with Bobby’s teacher about the teasing that is happening in the classroom, namely about Bobby having a girlfriend. Bobby even joined my wife and I and offered his input on the problem. She is going to keep her eye out on the situation and keep us updated on the progress.
Bobby did much better this evening in regards to doing his homework and playing his violin. We find that he is more receptive to doing these things if he isn’t allowed to watch television. If he goes to the next level and plays video games he’s almost unmanageable.
