Day #4820 (Sat., Mar. 18, 2023) – Ice Skating Birthday Party!

We had Bobby’s “belated” 8th birthday party at the Hillsborough Skating Rink this afternoon.  It was all booked up last week, during his regular birthday on the 11th.

I went to Harris-Teeter early this morning to pick up a “8” candle to put on his cupcake!  The skating rink will be supplying cupcakes and drinks.  We picked up 4 Papa John’s pizzas on Franklin Street to take to the rink with us.  Three cheese and one pepperoni.

About 20 kids from Bobby’s class arrived for the party with either their dad or mom.  We assembled into a meeting room first where the kids had their pizza and cupcakes and sang “Happy Birthday” to Bobby.  Next up, ice skating!

I helped one of Bobby’s classmates, Emily, put her skates on.  I then helped JJ, and Katie and Bobby as well.  The kids fumbled around on the ice for a bit, and eventually an instructor came out to give them lessons.  Arnesa and Ayra came to join the fun a bit later.

Everyone but daddy wanted to go swimming at the facility next, so I drove the van, pizza, and cupcakes home and Arnesa dropped the “rest” off later on.  I asked Katie what she enjoyed most about the day and one of the highlights was that she got to try out her new bathing suit.

Around 6:30 pm Bobby was exhausted and went to bed.  A playdate with Ethan and Brin is planned for tomorrow, but we’ll see how that goes.
