Day #4836 (Mon., Apr. 3, 2023) – Malahat Skywalk

We left Langford early this morning and soon we were at Finlaysom Arm Road where I took a nap and the rest of the family got out for a bit of a hike.

Next up was the Malahat Skywalk!  What a view! (see photo to the right).  Despite being “sick” and tired, I walked all the way up to the top of the lookout and back to the car again.  The kids enjoyed sliding down the metal slide on mats.  Three+ times in fact!  They were telling t-shirts and food but we decided to pass as they were a bit too expensive!

Next up was lunch.  The kids wanted to eat at McDonalds so we stopped off at the McDonalds at Mill Bay.  Oddly enough, it was run entirely by Filipino staff.  They served poutine and my wife got to try it for the first time and loved it.  They don’t have the “two cheeseburger” combo like they do in the states so I had to compromise the orders for the kids.

We passed by the farm near Enrico Winery on the way to Ladysmith!  We also toured Duncan and got to see the murals in Chemainus.

We checked into the Microtel Oyster Bay this afternoon.  They have a slide into the pool so Bobby is elated!  Finally we have a room with a laundry, so my wife is elated as well!

We had A&W for dinner this evening, which is a stone’s throw from the hotel.  My wife and I left the kids in the room and drove over to pick up our order.  My wife got to try a “Teen Burger” for the first time!
