Day #4948 (Mon., July 24, 2023) – Daddy/Son Chat #1

I dropped Katie off at Spence’s Farm this morning so that she could make up the time that she missed due to sickness.  She will be going today, Thursday, and Friday.  She’s not to excited due to the heat, but she used some positive visualization techniques to prepare herself.  In the end she got to ride Aria, which is a horse that she likes, so everything turned out well.  My wife went to pick her up before she had to do “acknowledgements”, which she hates.

I took Bobby to Duck Donuts for our first Daddy/Son Chat this morning.  He picked up a cookies and cream donut with a hot chocolate (see photo to the right).  I had a blueberry streusel donut with a coffee.  Bobby loved it and wants to come back next month!  He has his eye on the “Cinnamon Bun” donut next time.

Bobby and I talked a bit about bullies and how teasing is okay as long as the person teasing you is a good friend.  In fact, Bobby said that Ethan do this to each other.  They call it “roasting” each other. I just wanted him to be aware of the fact that people joke around and tease all the time, and it’s important to understand if the person is a friend or not.

Duck Donuts’s first store was in a town called Duck, North Carolina.  This got us to thinking about other potential towns that could have a donut shop.  I see that there is a town in North Carolina called WhyNot.  How about “WhyNot Donuts”?  What a great name for a donut store!

I went to Walmart this afternoon for supplies.  I picked up a 30.4 lb. watermelon!  The largest watermelon I have ever seen!  I also picked up some  BBQ chips for Katie as a reward for powering through and going to Spence’s Farm this morning..

Ethan has been kicked off the computer.  We’re not sure exactly why, but his mother told us that he needs to “adjust his attitude”… 🙂
