Day #5027 (Wed., Oct. 11, 2023) – Crup & Parainfluenza

Both kids are at home today. As it turns out, Bobby has CRUP and Katie has PARAINFLUENZA.

Here’s what Bard says about these two illnesses:

Croup is a respiratory infection that causes inflammation of the larynx (voice box) and trachea (windpipe). It is most common in children between the ages of 6 months and 3 years. Croup is caused by a virus, such as parainfluenza virus or respiratory syncytial virus (RSV).

Parainfluenza is a group of four viruses that can cause respiratory infections in people of all ages, but they are most common in children under the age of 5. Parainfluenza viruses can cause a variety of respiratory illnesses, including croup, bronchiolitis, bronchitis, and pneumonia.

After going to Panera Bread for a coffee, I went to Harris Teeter to pick up some French bread and potatoes. My wife texted me after I left to pick up some ice cream for the kids, but too late… I made a couple of homemade “Wendy’s Frosty’s” when I got home (see photo to the right). Bobby didn’t care for it and Katie liked it initially, but upon reflection thought it was too sweet.
