Day #5108 (Sun., Dec. 31, 2023) – Raising Cane’s!
Today’s the day! The day that I take my son to the “Raising Cane’s” restaurant in Chapel Hill for the first time. This will be Daddy/Son Day #73. We’ve driven by this building at various occasions and have often remarked how long it is taking to open. Well, it’s open, and today we will be having lunch there.
A benefit to going here on Sunday is that we have free parking in the lot behind the store. On the walk from the parking lot to the restaurant I explained to Bobby why businesses like having free parking on Sundays, as most people are not at work, and since Sunday is a day in which these businesses want more customers, free parking can help to lure them in.
There was quite a lineup at Cane’s, even though it was just after 11 am that we arrived. We can now see why it took so long to open the restaurant. They did a complete remodel of the inside, including an elevator that goes to the 2nd floor. I asked Bobby if he wanted a regular meal or a kiddie meal, and he opted for the kiddie meal just to try it out and see if he liked it.
After ordering we made our way upstairs via the elevator. They called our name when the order was ready, and I took the elevator down to pick it up. Bobby enjoyed the chicken fingers, and the fries, and surprisingly even the sauce (since it was a bit tangy), but still said that he preferred McDonalds. McDonalds has certainly their formula perfected when it comes to selling to kids. You can see Bobby enjoying the meal in the photo to the right.
This evening Katie and I watched the Kansas City Chiefs beat the Cincinnati Bengals. It was quite the close game, and I didn’t know till about 1/2 way through the game that Taylor Swift was in the stands! Once I saw her I called Katie out of her bedroom to watch. She looked very pensive, but once the Chiefs one, she was happy and relieved. There has been a lot of talk in the media as of late on how bad Travis Kelce has played since they started dating. Maybe they will change there minds now? Probably not!
