Day #5177 (Sat., Mar. 9, 2024) – Bobby’s 9th Birthday Party

Since we are leaving for Courtenay on Sunday, and Bobby’s actual birthday is on Monday, we decided that we would have it today! The guests, Ethan, Lucia, and her brother, arrived at 3 pm and left shortly after 5 pm. Bobby wanted to have just a few friends over today, which is fine. It’s his party and he was allowed to “call the shots”.

This morning I gave Bobby his birthday present from me, the red di-cast pickup truck I picked up at Walgreens yesterday.

We drove the Camry over to Dzenen’s house as he will be taking Bobby to school next week. Bobby will also be staying with them next week, and has his suitcase all packed with his belongings for his visit.

I drove down to Papa John’s on Franklin Street and picked up an extra large cheese pizza.

The kids started off by playing air hockey. Lucia is terrified of dogs so we had to keep Maple in Katie’s room for most of the time in which she was here. She was scratching at the door and barking trying to get out.

There was quite a bit of food available for the kids. Along with the extra large Papa John’s cheese pizza, there were potato chips, chocolate cupcakes with gummy worms on top, and a large UNC cookie. You can see Bobby blowing out the #9 candle on the cupcake in the photo to the right.

Once the guests were gone there was still a lot to do in order to get the placed cleaned up and ready for tomorrow. Carolyn, the dog trainer, will be staying at our house with her two dogs in order to take care of Maple. Maple is very excited as she is “fun” and takes her on walks.

Katie showed me the tile that she wants in her new bathroom. We’ll see how much it all costs but I think it will be doable.
