Day #5202 (Wed., Apr. 3, 2024) – Maureen From Courtenay

When I was out doing errands today I picked up some books at the library (see photo to the right). This gives you some idea as to what the kids are reading these days.

Maureen, the lady who is selling us the house in Courtenay, called this afternoon. She wanted to know if we wanted anything that they are leaving behind. We told her to not stress out about anything, and take whatever she wants, and just leave the rest, even the garbage. We realize how much stress and “stuff” that we are going through on this end in getting moved, and since she has a 101 year old mother, we don’t want her to worry about it in the least.

She said that she would leave the “red tractor seat” that I noticed during our visit (see photo to the left). She associates it with work, so I don’t think she is too sad to leave it behind. She also told us that she used to raise donkeys, and that a neighbor of her neighbors is from Nova Scotia. Apparently there are kids Bobby’s age in the neighborhood, and a 15-year old boy down the street who will be going to the same school as Katie.

The moving company sure wants a lot of money to move our “stuff” to Courtenay, but if we are to avoid all the “horror stories” of moving companies, and yet still enjoy the benefit of not doing it all ourselves, I guess you gotta do what you gotta do.

This evening Katie tried her hand at making cookies. The batter was kinda “liquidy”, so it came out as one large cookie, but she said it was great with some ice cream.
