Day #5244 – (Wed., May 15, 2024) – Ode To The Camry!

As I dropped Bobby off at Glenwood this morning I mentioned to him that this would probably be his last ride in my reliable ole’ 1995 Camry (see photo to the right). I’m am going to try and sell it today to our local Toyota dealership. It has been a trusty workhorse for the family for the past 10+ years!

After cleaning up the “insides” the plan was to take it to a car wash, but there was a slight rain/mist in the air so I drove it to the dealership “as is”. Funny thing is, it looked great when I arrived so the rain/mist did it’s trick.

At the dealership, the sales guy, David, who is Jewish by the way, was a missionary in Russia and other places around the world, and has 10 children. He said he could only probably offer $200, but his boss said he would give me $500, so I grabbed it!

My wife came to pick me up, but they spelt my name wrong on the forms and had to redo them. I drove her in the van to have lunch with her old boss Jeanette at “The Root Cellar”, down the road, then back to pick up my $500 check.

Next up, to the bank to deposit this check in my wife’s bank account. I tried to turn in my license plate at DMV, but the computer was down, so I went for lunch and then came back. By then the computers were back up, and I actually have a bit of a refund coming to me, but I would need to go to Hillsborough to pick it up.

They eventually came back up, and I actually have a bit of a refund coming to me, but I would need to go to Hillsborough to pick it up.

The people who are buying our house came over for a “walk through” this afternoon. Everything is in order. We gave them the keys.

This evening my wife and I took the kids to Tandem Restaurant to use the $200 gift card that my boss’s wife gave her. You can see the kids horsing around in the photo to the right. The kids and I shared a huge steak dish, and my wife had salmon. Tasty and fancy meal, but very expensive. For the four of us it was about $250, so we actually had to pay $50 extra! Who can afford to eat out these days?
