Day #5257 – (Tue., May 28, 2024) – RBC Bank Accounts

My wife and I went to RBC in downtown Courtenay this morning to set up our Canadian bank accounts (see photo to the right). I need a local one for checking, and a US$ based account to transfer my ROTH IRA funds from Etrade to Canada. Karl was the associate who helped us, and he was very helpful. So much so in fact that I emailed his boss and told her what a great job he did. On a strange note, they do have a bathroom, but he had to walk me to it and wait for me to finish so he could walk me back…

My son and I had Daddy/Son Day #80 today. He wanted to go to McDonalds, so we ended up at the one in South Courtenay just after you cross the bridge. He wanted to go through the drive through, but I wanted to go use the restroom, so we ended up inside. Once again, you had to go to the counter and have the cashier open the door for you. Like yesterday, my son opted for the two Happy Meal deal, with two chocolate milk. I thought he might want to go to Canadian Tire, but he wanted to go home and play on his iPad (surprise, surprise). I did take the detour through Comox though so that we could see the harbor and ships. I’m gradually figuring out this place and my way around it.

My wife and I learned that there are some problems with the mortgage, so we are trying to get Mark from RBC to chime in and help us out. I tried to link my ETrade ROTH Account to my RBC US Savings account, but the routing number that Karl gave us this morning is the same as the one for JP Morgan Chase, so that will need to be updated as well.

Katie spent most of her day in her room, and Bobby spent most of the day on his iPad. We’re thinking that getting a trampoline for Bobby might not be a bad idea. Maybe neighborhood kids will want to come around more and play on it, and this in turn will get Bobby out and exercising and away from his iPad and.
