Day #5281 – (Fri., June 21, 2024) – National Indigenous Peoples Day

It’s National Indigenous Peoples Day here in Canada. To celebrate this event, my wife took the kids to two particular festivals to celebrate. Rather than deal with the hassle of parking, I dropped them off and picked them up when they were ready to go. I had time to go to Dollarama and pick up a dish dryer and a “bird” glider for Bobby.

The first location, in Comox, (see photo to the left), was more of a “sales” event. Katie picked up some earrings and Bobby picked up an airplane made of metalwork.

The second festival was across the street from Vanier High School, and had activities for the kids. Bobby enjoyed the “Bouncy House”!

When we got home Bobby and I put the “bird” glider through it’s paces. It looked better than it actually flew (see photo to the right). You could wind it up, but the elastic was really not strong enough to support a long flight. Bobby asked how much I paid for it and suggested that I get my money back… 🙂

This afternoon my wife took Maple for a walk and Katie and Bobby tagged along. Katie got to meet Sophia, the Chinese girl, about her age, who lives down the street. She is “duck sitting” and invited her to come with her to try and put the ducks into their safe enclosure for the night.

This evening I moved the cardboard from the garage to the barn. I see that the grass clippings are already starting to bunch up, so tomorrow will be a big day of shredding cardboard and composting!

So the Oilers performed magic and won game #6, forcing a game #7 in the Stanley Cup Finals on Monday night. I spent the third period of the game trying to sign up for ABC News and get access to a VPN so that I could see it from Canada. Alas, quite the process, a disaster. I signed up for SportsNet for a month at $20 so that I will have access to Game #7 on Monday Night!
