My wife took the kids to an Art Exhibit this morning and they got to meet the artist. They bought a huge metal dragonfly sculpture for the lawn in front of the garage in the area where the van resides. He asked who was the “artist” of the group, and they said Katie. He took her to his workshop and even offered to teach her how to weld. I might take her to this…I would like to learn to weld as well!
This afternoon we tackled the “Compost” issue full on. I took the shredder to the stable area and we made great progress in shredding a lot of the carboard boxes that we used for the move. Katie and Bobby showed up to help out (see photo to the left). We took two full loads of the utility cart to add to the mowed grass clippings. A lot of water, sunshine, and air, and wait… That should do the trick. Katie even mowed the area around the compost heap this afternoon so that the various vines and such would not scratch her legs.
Bobby was out riding his scooter this afternoon and met Mitchell, a kid in the neighborhood who is just about his age. His mother is Australian. He let Bobby ride his bike while he took a turn on Bobby’s scooter. He has a younger sister who is seven years old.
This evening I wanted to treat Katie for all the hard work she did this afternoon, so we went out for a Daddy/Daughter Chat Day. We stopped off at Home Depot to get some “Miracle Grow” for my wife, then to Walmart to get some bed cover “fasteners” so the bed covers do not come off. I was also looking for a dishpan but they were out. Can you believe Walmart out of dishpans? Aren’t they synonymous… 🙂
Talking about Walmart, there was this cute little red car parked just outside the entrance with a dog in it (see photo to the right). The car was so small it looked like the dog was the driver, but I asked the greeter inside the door and she told me that someone drives his little car to Walmart quite often to do shopping. I tried to find the type of car it was but on the back of the vehicle was the website address of OrthoQuad.com. Not sure if this is street legal?
Next up was Tim Hortons. I hadn’t eaten since noon so I was starved! I had their habanero chicken wrap with chili and Katie had a “French Vanilla” with Tim Bits. I made sure that the “French Vanilla” didn’t have coffee in it, but Katie told me that it was disgusting none-the-less.
