My wife took the kids to the Comox Air Force Museum this morning (see photo to the left). I guess it was an interesting place, but Bobby was upset that you couldn’t actually go and sit in the various planes, just go up to them on the field. They picked up McDonalds on the way home.

While the family was away I did some work around the house. First up, fixing the loose step on the entrance to the “Barn Suite”. I used the “DeWalt Impact Drill” that I purchased the other day, and it did quite a good job. That sucker ain’t loose anymore (see photo to the right). I happened to find a screw that did the job, but we do need to get an assortment of nails and screws for various projects at some point.

I also spent some time “weed wacking”. Our little weed wacker struggled, but it did manage to cut a thick area of grass. I see that it’s 20 volts, which is the same voltage as the “DeWalt Weed Wacker” I was thinking of getting. Voltage is power, and amps is duration, according to my friend Roger who works in the tool section of Home Depot. Our lawn mower is 40 volts, so perhaps a Ryobi weed wacker would work better? The investigation continues…
I was home all day, and was itching to get out for a rid, so this evening Katie and I went out for Daddy/Daughter Chat Day #16. I wanted to investigate why some service stations sell beer and others do not. First up was the little “log cabin” type Petro Canada service station at the corner of Anderton and Ryan Road (see photo to the left). They don’t sell beer, so we were off to one that I know does, the one in Black Creek. On the way we stopped off at McDonalds for an ice cream! When I got to the Black Creek Gas N Go I talked to the clerk who said that they have a liquor license. This is why this particular gas station sells liquor! They have a liquor license! There are a number of other “Gas N Go’s” in the Comox Valley, so they sell liquor as well. They usually close around 11 pm, so this info is good to know in case you have guests over and need drinks late at night!
