Day #5353 – (Sun., Sept. 1, 2024) – Bryston & Autumn

Bobby has some plastic vines in his room that light up via batteries (see photo to the left). We were joking around about the fact that this is where batteries come from…they grow on vines!

Today is the first day of painting the garage. Well, not much painting today, but more prep work, but you get the idea. I spent the first part of the day investigating what to wear. Home Depot had a pair of coveralls for $15 that I thought would work, but they were a bit tight, and more importantly didn’t really dissipate the heat, so opted to look for another option. I found that option at Value Village, a thrift store down the road. They had a wide brimmed hat for only $10 with a little flap on the back perfect to keep paint off your hair and neck. They also had a long sleeved t-shirt for $10, and a pair of shorts for about $7… This worked great, but I opted to use the shorts I brought from Chapel Hill as they were more comfortable.

I also bought a bunch of Home Depot paint supplies, such as a huge 5 gallon bucket of primer, some caulking and gun, a putty knife, some sponges and rags and buckets. Later this afternoon I hoisted the “Little Giant” ladder so that it would be the right height to reach the attic, and put some caulking in a few holes. Ready to really “Rock & Roll” tomorrow!

Bobby and Katie both had “play dates” today. Bryston and Autumn were here for two hours this afternoon. Their mother drove them over in her red Jeep diesel! They boys were alternating between playing in Bobby’s room and outdoors. They played a bit of soccer and even went to look for some eggs. Autumn and Katie chatted in Katie’s room. Autumn is into art, but a bit “adventuresome”… Bobby had a much better time than Katie did… I keep encouraging Katie to meet the Scottish girls who live a few houses down the street. I’m sure that they will be more to her liking and temperament.
