Day #5383 – (Tue., Oct. 1, 2024) – Canadian Permanent Resident Card!

It was a rather rainy miserable day outside today, so no garage work got done.

Jimmy Carter is 100 years old today!

My wife finally received her Canadian Permanent Resident Card in the mail today, so she will be going to Campbell River on Thursday to get her BC Services Card and driver’s license.

My wife went to Costco for supplies today. It came to about $800, but all the food will probably last for a couple of months. Once we get more settled we will figure out where is the best place to buy this and that and save some more $ on our grocery bills.

I took Katie out for a drive this evening (see photo to the left), which effectively evolved into Daddy/Daughter Chat Day #18. Her friend Gavin suggested that she try an “Ice Cap” at Tim Hortons, so that’s where we ended up…the one outside Home Depot on Ryan Road. Katie usually doesn’t like coffee, but she liked this drink. I was going to have a black coffee, but when I found out that they also had oat milk, I had a splash of that in my coffee as well.

Katie really misses her friend group in Chapel Hill, but I reasoned with her that she had a lot more friends here at a much earlier stage of going to Vanier than she ever did in Chapel Hill. It took her a year to find friends in Chapel Hill, and it only started after we watched “The Secret” and Tinsley came into her life. She’s only effectively been to Vanier for two weeks given the fact that she was sick for two weeks, and look at all the friends she has! This seemed to cheer her up.

Katie and I toured around the “North Island College” campus for a bit and Katie said that she would be interested in taking art classes there at some point. On the way home we saw a family of raccoons crossing the road at the entrance to Home Depot.

The Vice Presidential Debate was on television this evening. Hard to believe that the election is a little over a month away!
