Day #5403 – (Mon., Oct. 21, 2024) – Chicken Noodle Soup!

The photo to the left shows Katie’s latest creation. She was debating adding the girl with the umbrella, but I think it adds a lot to the story!

I got my flu shot at Rexall Drugs, over the bridge, in Courtenay, this morning. My wife, Katie, and Bobby got theirs yesterday. Bobby’s arm was hurting him after the shot, but he went to school anyway. Katie is home sick.

After getting my flu shot I went to “The Great Canadian Superstore” for groceries afterward. I prefer Walmart, but since it is closed down due to the fire they had, it’s really the only place you can go for a lot of groceries. I prefer Thrifty Foods, owned by Sobey’s, but they can be expensive for anything but a few items, and Costco is great if you want to buy things in bulk. Other than the regular items, milk and orange juice, Katie wanted some chicken noodle soup! I also picked up some tortilla chips and rice crackers for the chickens!

The Great Canadian Superstore reminds me of a prison camp. If you are shopping and you want to go to the bathroom, you need to go through a gate, and to get back to your groceries you need to go around the front and through yet another gate to get back into the store. If you go through the wrong gate, alarms go off. People eye you as you bag your groceries, fearful that you might steal something, and then there is the need to put a $1 coin into one of their precious shopping carts to use it. With the possible exception of Shopper’s Drug Mart in Courtenay, it’s my least favorite store here!

The rain has subsided, so it was nice to go for a drive with the sun beaming through and warming the wet trees, grass, and flowers.

Bobby went to martial arts class this evening (see photo to the right).
