Day #5411 – (Tue., Oct. 29, 2024) – Kids Carve Pumpkins!

The US Election is one week away. Since we are on pacific time now, we might know the outcome by the time we go to bed!

After dropping the kids off at school this morning I went to Dollarama for pumpkin carving supplies, then to Thrifty Foods to pick up one large pumpkin and two small pumpkins at Bobby’s request. Well, there were only two pumpkins left (see photo to the right)! The cashier told me that she was planning on buying one after work today, but well, too late…

It looks like these two pumpkins might be the last two for sale in the Comox Valley! I drove around town and there were not at “The Great Canadian Superstore” or “Quality Foods”!

My wife took Katie to the orthodontist this afternoon so I picked up Bobby from Huband and drove him home.

The kids carved their pumpkins tonight! I helped them cut the hole off the top as it required a big knife. Katie did her own design off an inspiration she found on the internet, and helped Bobby design his as well. They both did a good job of scooping the “guts” out, but I did have to help them navigate the smaller face openings with the knife.

The decision was to put one carved pumpkin on balcony and the other one on stump at the end of the road. I picked up some little lights at Dollarama this morning, so that helped to lighten them up in the dark. We then drove around the neighborhood to see what they would look like from the road. This lead to a little drive around the neighborhood. We even drove down Gavin’s street!
