Day #5416 – (Sun., Nov. 3, 2024) – Fred Penner

The kids performed this afternoon along with their other Suzuki classmates at the 48th Annual CVCDA Children’s Telethon held at the Sid Williams Theatre in downtown Courtenay this afternoon. The event supported the Comox Valley Children Development Association, and was held from 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm, and raised over $38,000.

We didn’t stay for the whole event. We left the house at around 2:40 pm and got there in time to find some parking and get some seats. The kids performed a few numbers together (see photo to the right), and then we stayed a bit longer to see Fred Penner perform. He’s a popular entertainer from Winnipeg who now lives on Vancouver Island. His career was launched by his rendition of “The Cat Came Back”, a comic song written by Harry S. Miller in 1893.

I seem to be the only one in the family who doesn’t have difficulty in opening the trunk to the 2008 Toyota Camry Hybrid.
