Both kids are home sick today. Katie still has the ear problems she had yesterday, and we’re not sure what’s up with Bobby…
I ran a bunch of errands today. For starters, I went to a locksmith to get some keys made. One for our 2nd mailbox, and two more for the “Barn Suite” and “Main House”. Mission accomplished (see photo to the right). I’m going to use the little engraver pen I got a few months ago so we know which is which…
The next mission was not to be so simple…
I ended up at the local office of Service Canada to have my pension bank account information changed to here in Courtenay. I have my ID, so a simple request, right? Nope… Apparently, even though you are sitting directly in front of them, you need to write out a letter telling them what you want, and they forward this to Ottawa (or somewhere) and with this letter in hand they hopefully can make the updates… When I called them on the phone, they said that they would have someone call me within two weeks from a phone number that was not recognizable (for whatever reason), and that after this phone call, it would take three months to update this bank account info. To expedite the process, they suggested I go to our local office of Service Canada where they could update this information immediately as I was right in front of them… HA!
So, we’ll see what happens… This letter is working it’s way merrily to Ottawa (or somewhere) via some courier method I presume (as Canada Post is on strike… let’s here another “Thank You” for Canada Post… sarcasm implied…) They suggested I call them up within a month to see how it is going… I’m sure that they will ask me yet again for this address I was at in 2001, which I don’t remember as I was staying in “Extended Stay” hotels at that point, just to make life easier!) Ugh!
Next up, I returned a bunch of stuff to Amazon via drop off at Staples!
Our neighbors seem to keep adding on to their Christmas decorations each day (see photo to the right). They get brighter each time I drive by them. The dog on the right seemed to think it was part of the display.
On a more positive note, Katie is feeling better, but she does have an appointment tomorrow at the “Ears, Eyes, Nose, & Throat” doctor in Campbell river!
The kids opened the little drawers for Advent Calendar Day #8 today… Just chocolate and a McDonald’s coupon… A “small gift” day.
